Framing Competition Win!
Tue, 26 May 2009The team at Applecross Framing & Fine Art were delighted to walk away with the trophy for the Most Imaginative Composition in a framing competition held by suppliers Antons. The thirty entrants in the competition were invited to frame a print of Geoffrey Smart's "Cahill Expressway" in the most interesting way. A wide range of innovative designs and styles, plus excellent workmanship was displayed. Our entry, which is on show in the gallery, comprises a handmade collage of Sydney UBD maps forming the matboard on which the silver-framed image was suspended using steel wire and chrome eyelets. Mirror panels formed the side build-up reflecting the map collage which appeared to extend to infinity. The exterior frame, also silver, matched the interior one.
